fully breastfeeding but need to supplement one time?

Posted by admin on Oct 24, 2009

My son is only 6 weeks old and has been fully breastfed. Unfortunately at the end of this month I’m having to go on a business trip for two days. I don’t believe I will have enough milk stored. Its breaking my heart to leave him. has anyone had to supplement like this before? Should I just do 1/2 formula 1/2 breast milk? BTW…I will have enough milk for at least the 1st day just not For the entire time.

That should be fine. Formula is fine…it just is very good for a baby to get breastfed for the first few weeks.

Make sure you milk yourself while away, so the flow does not stop.

parental unit:

Is there any way to bring him along? can you pay the way for your husband or your mother to come and stay with the baby while you work so you can still nurse him in the evenings? At 6 weeks I don’t think you should be expected to leave you baby.

Stina is lost and expecting:

the formula should be fine, try to pump more often before you go to get more milk so you hopefully have enough so he wont need the formula.
