No. wouldn't even try it. I did take my dog off worm pills once. Only because she was 9 years old with a bad heart. And she lived outside and drank algae water and you name it and she did not have worms of any kind when she died five years later. This I think is only because she had had the medicine and she built up an immunity. It was a chance I took taking her off but like I said she had a bad heart. Also, she was a keeshound with a real thick undercoat. When an animal already has a confirmed bad heart worm med. is poison. So we were already aware of the consequences. She died happy and sassy right up to the end. She had a good life.

There is no home remedy for heartworm. Left untreated, heartworms will kill a dog.

I hope you’re not asking because your dog has heartworm and you can’t or don’t want to go to a vet. As a pet owner it is your responsibility to provide vet care. If you can’t – you should surrender your dog to a shelter or rescue. The dog may be euthanized, but at least it won’t suffer from neglect, or die from some ignorant home remedy.

Prevention is the only smart way to deal with heartworms. If your dog goes outdoors, and there are mosquitos…you should be using heartworm preventative, to protect your pet.

That’s one thing you can’t toy around with by using natural remedies. Your dog needs to be evaluated by a vet to determine the risk and course of treatment. If the dog isn’t too far gone, they start them on heartguard, and wait for that to kill the baby worms. Once the baby worms are dead they usually give injections of Immiticide.

Get your dog properly treated.

please do not treat this yourself. this is a dangerous thing and a vet must treat it. unless you want to get it and you and anyone the dog is in contact with can get heart worms……

Don't do it. These "quack natural remedies" do NOT work. You are putting your dog's life at stake. Heartworms are nothing to play with. Please talk to your vet about a good preventive program for you dog.

The only thing you can give a dog for heartworms is the treatment. when someone dropped Whitey off he was chucked full of heartworms and he was to old and he was to sick to survive the treatment so we brought him home and gave him love for the 8 months he lived. I tried garlic and everything I could think of but nothing helped. He went to doggy heaven 2-19-08 but atleast he knew we loved him

I'm sure people have tried. And I'm sure that their dogs either died from the "natural" treatment or from the heartworm infestation. Heartworm is not something to be messed around with, it is potentially fatal and needs to be treated by a veterinarian.

Once a dog has heartworms, there are NO natural remedies.

They have to be treated with powerful drugs, and the treatment alone can kill the dog.

Prevention is the best medicine.
Again, you must use the drugs prescribed by vets.

Basically, no.
Nothing holistic will protect or treat heartworms.

P.S. This is a horrifying disease for dogs to have and die from. They suffocate slowly over weeks and months. It’s painful. Don’t let any dog suffer this torture.
