Non sulfa heart Medicines ,are there any ???

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009

I need a non sulfa heart medicine & a diuretic.
They can not be any with the word "sufla"…all forms,
as I have had severe reactions to all that have it in them.
Allergies to sufla, dyes(metals),iodine, coedine, latex and many food allergies.
Does anyone know of any alternatives to RX medicines that are safe with many plants/flower/herb/grass , allergies ??
I have had allergic reactons to the sulfamides also..I know chemistry quite well as my Dad taught it to us when we were very young,he taught college senior chemistry,I worked in a pharmacy. for 6 years,as a dental assistant for 14 three phamrasist showed me the chemical make up… there is a form of sulfamide that the body responds to the same as a sufla med.I did a scratch test & it welted up in about 30 seconds.I have had allergies all my life, guinea pig for many on the market now… I know when it’s allergy related. The Cardio knew full well, even saw the full body edema..still refused to believe it was allergic reactions. He is absolutely wrong & it cost me dearly with my health. My PCP & 2 allergists totally agrees with what the pharmasist & I know as facts.I was called the "bubble girl" by the specialist growing up…given to the age of 10 to live,my allergies were so intense.People who never lived with them are no offense..totally clueless about the intense body reactions..

sorry at the moment my mims is not at home. but i will check it out for you.

See there are many alternatives and options available. varous classes of drugs are available. We cannot suggest blindly a nonsulpha drug. We need to know the history of the patient, his present condition, etc to come up with safe and sure answer.

Kinldy consult your doctor. You would have reported it to the doctor while during the previous consultation regarding your allergies towards sulpha drugs.

My advice is to consult your doctor.

First off Sulfanimides are typically a class of ANTIBIOTICS. The sulfur that you see as a preservative is different sulfa vs sulphide. (OK I cant spell dyslexic) Anyway let your doctor AND PHARMACIST know of your allergies so that they can ensure that you are not prescribed anything that will cause a reaction. Also using herbals to substitute for cardiac and diuretic medications is not advisable. Yes many medications that we are prescribed by our physician are or were derived from many of the herbal remedies out there today. The problem being herbals are not monitored for purity and strength cannot be guaranteed. 10,000 to 250,000U contained in each pill as seen on one supplement bottle alone goes to show you. With a prescription medication the ingredients are refined for purity tested for quality and the medication is made to provide you with the EXACT dosage that you require.
Many times people with allergies are taking a huge risk using herbals because purity standards are not the same as pharmaceuticals. People with allergies are also benefited in that some drugs are now made synthetically so the risk of cross contamination by a raw material is eliminated.
