Effective Home Remedies For Constipation
Posted by admin on Nov 3, 2009
Disturbance in your digestive tract is commonly referred to as constipation. In this disorder, there is an irregular movement of your bowels. Constipation itself is a root to many diseases and disorders. This is because it produces toxins in the blood serum and then those are carried to the other body parts. It can cause other diseases such as rheumatism, appendicitis, arthritis, cataract, high blood pressure and even cancer in some of the rarest cases.
The symptoms of constipation include irregular elimination of faecal matter that is hard in nature. The other symptoms are foul breath, coated tongue, loss of appetite, depression, nausea and dizziness. Ulcers in the mouth can also occur sometimes with varicose veins and heart burn.
The main cause of such a state of disorder is the bad lifestyle patterns that you follow, coupled with improper diet. Insufficient intake of water and excessive use of coffee and tea can also lead to this state. Drinking, irregular eating, insufficient chewing, all together makes the functioning of your bowels poor. Apart from this lack of physical activities and and irregular defecation habits with emotional stress and strain, also lead to constipation.
But you can always cure constipation. If the medicines are doing nothing good to you, then you have the option of home remedial treatments. They are:
1.Pear: It is an effective fruit for the treatment of constipation. Making it a part of your regular diet, can help you a lot.
2.Grapes: Since ages, grapes have proved to be a very effective natural remedy to cure constipation. Grapes contains sugar, cellulose and various organic acids that make them an ideal constipation healer. Besides cleaning your stomach, they also tone up the tissues of your stomach and the intestines.
3.Bael Fruit: It is regarded as the best fruit in curing this disorder. It cleans and tones up your intestinal space.
4.Guava: Guava provides you roughage that is very essential for the proper digestion of food. Roughage helps in the normal evacuation of your bowels.
5.Spinach: Spinach is the most vital food for your entire digestive system. The organic elements that are present in spinach cleanse, reconstruct and help the regeneration of the worn out tissues of your intestinal tract.
A simple diet surely helps you to keep away from constipation as it clears your stomach. A simple diet is one that consists of unrefined foods, like honey, bran, wholegrain cereals, lentils, fruits, green leafy vegetables and various milk products.
Apart from them there are also other home remedies that help in treating constipation. For instance, a glass of hot lime water, with added salt is very effective. It is also said that taking an overnight kept water in a copper container helps you considerably in this direction. Linseed is a useful product as it provides both roughage and lubrication to the stomach.

Broken heart remedies?
Posted by admin on Nov 2, 2009
My boyfriend just recently broke up with me. We have known each other since the dawn of time, and our parents are super-duper close. (Which pretty much sucks.) We go to church together, so it’s not like I can just forget about him. (Our church could fit in a McDonald’s play area.) Word has gotten around, and it’s very akward. Today, I had nursery with his mom, (I don’t think she knows yet…) and he just completely ignored me. My mom and his mom were just chatting away about him, just random things, and I almost started to cry. He broke up with me because, "It wasn’t working out." I don’t know what to do with myself anymore. It hurts way to much to see him….Should I keep trying to win him back, or should I just be friends with him (if he wishes)? Can anyone give me advice?
Sorry honey – I know it hurts so bad, but it will get better every day. I would stay away from him. Avoid him in church – sit somewhere where you won’t see him (in front of him so he’s looking at you ignoring him). Forget about trying to win him back and what do you mean be friends "if he wishes"! Come on – you’re better than that. It should be if YOU wish – He hurt you. You don’t want to give him a chance to keep hurting you. Avoid him like the plague, and when he sees what he’s missing things may change. If you keep trying to get him back why does he have to do anything different. If he can ignore you – you can certainly ignore him. Give him a dose of his own medicine! In the mean time only listen to happy music, songs, watch funny movies, read funny stories. Pretty soon you won’t be thinking about him every minute, but you have to keep busy. Keep your chin up, you can do it!!!
How To Free Yourself From Snoring – 7 Excellent Home Remedies
Posted by admin on Nov 1, 2009
Do you often find your spouse sleeping in a different room? If the answer is yes, then the most likely reason is the annoying melodies produced by you when asleep. You might be able to sleep well with this music, but it can make your spouse pull out his/her hair in bunches.
Wondering what is being referred to as music here? In lay man’s terms, it is called snoring. The only instrument you need to play it is your own throat. Though it is common, it can be disastrous to relationships. It has driven some people to the extent of taking a divorce on grounds of snoring.
This is an indication of a malfunction in your body. Many people who have studied snoring in depth have found that it may be a sign of diabetes of obesity or something much more serious like a serious heart condition that has gone undiagnosed.
Not alone is your partner’s sleep affected, but even you will often have to turn and find a better sleeping position to avoid snoring. All this might be done by you thouroughly unaware that it was snoring that woke you up in the first place. The most vital organ of the human body, the brain, need a constant supply of sufficient oxygen to prevent damage to itself. Snoring occurs only when you obstruct your own windpipe. Thus the brain gets alerted and wakes you up from deep slumber to open up the blocked air passage. You may not even know that you had woken up. But your partner who lost her sleep would watch the entire event.
Snoring leads to various complications like lack of sleep, headaches right in the morning, irritability, lightheadedness etc and spoils your entire day. Now that you know the various ill-effects of snoring and have realized that it is not to be ignored, let us look at some simple but effective cures for it.
To treat snoring, first we have to know the cause. The chief cause of snoring is relaxation of throat muscles. These tend to relax when you are sleeping, and if they are too relaxed because of fatty tissues, they will obstruct the passage of air to the lungs. Air that is moving in and out, makes these fatty tissues and throat muscles vibrate, which produces the annoying sound.
So we have zeroed down on the cause. Let us find a cure for it.
Being overweight is one of the main causes of snoring. Sagging of throat muscles is caused by the fat tissues that build up around it. So the simplest way to prevent snoring is to monitor your weight. Consume a healthy and balanced diet and exercise to keep the muscles toned. After a certain stage, you will finally stop snoring or at least reduce it to a tolerable level to satisfy both your spouse and you.
The following are some other remedies for snoring that can be practised from home.
1. Do not smoke – These tend to make your throat muscles relax a bit too much
2. Do not consume alcoholic beverages – They too tend to over-relax your throat muscles.
3. Eat light and healthy – Heavy dinner causes sagging of throat muscles
4. Do not take sedatives – Throat muscles relax more than required.
5. Dont lie on your back – Moderate snorers stop snoring when lying on thier sides.
6. Get a small comfortable pillow – Large pillows feel comfortable but increase tendency to snore
7. Elevate your bed – Inclining your bed to a small angle with the upper torso elevated is effective in checking snoring. You can elevate it with a pair of old hard-bound books.
That is it. They might sound simple and easy to practise. But they work wonders in curing snoring. Have a good night’s sleep.

Natural Remedies For Irritable Bowel Syndrome Migraine
Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009
Studies have shown a definite irritable bowel syndrome migraine link. In fact some studies brought to light that those with IBS are really getting a bum deal as they are also at a greater risk of suffering with migraines, depression and fibromyalgia.
The migraines are much the same as those experienced by non-IBS sufferers. Symptoms include: moderate to severe pain on one or both sides of the head; a pulsating or throbbing pain; pain that is worse whenever you are physically active; nausea with or without vomiting; and sensitivity to light or sound.
Thankfully there are some natural remedies that can be used for migraines. However you need to ensure that they do not interact with any medication or treatments you are taking for other Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms, or for any other condition for that matter.
These include:
1. Feverfew is an herb that has been used for centuries as a traditional remedy for migraines. It is said to be able to both prevent and treat migraines. However, it can cause abdominal pain, gas, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and nervousness in some. Also, if you are taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) you should not take this herb.
2. 5-HTP, which is also known as 5-Hydroxytryptophan, is a compound that your body produces. It is used for making serotonin and the melatonin. This is also available in the form of a supplement that comes from the seeds of an African plant, called Griffonia simplicifolia. Unfortunately, you will have to take this for between 4 to 6 months before it will become effective in reducing the severity and duration of your migraine headaches
3. Magnesium can naturally be found in leafy green vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains. Of course, it can also be taken as a supplement. It is known to help regulate blood sugar levels. Plus, it is needed for normal muscle and nerve function, heart rhythm, immune function, blood pressure, and for bone health. Studies have shown that magnesium can reduce the frequency and severity of your migraines by 42% when taken for 9 weeks. However, if you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, you should know that one of magnesium’s side effects is diarrhea, digestive irritation, nausea and loss of appetite. Also, you will need to be careful not to take this supplement while taking muscle relaxants
4. Butterbur is an herb that comes from a shrub-like plant that grows in northern Asia, Europe and parts of North America. It can be used to treat migraines as well as stomach cramps. This herb can help to prevent migraines within 2 to 4 months of when you begin taking it. The side effects include mild digestive complaints, which was mainly burping. However, you could also notice indigestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation. You also should not take this herb if you are allergic to ragweed, as this herb is part of the ragweed plant family.
As you can see from the above list, you should always seek the advice of a nutritionist, dietician of your physician if you are going to seek an alternative course of treatment for migraine pain. They can consider your condition and personal circumstances and identify the best approach to resolve your irritable bowel syndrome migraine, as well as any other symptoms you may be suffering.

Discovering Add – Adhd Natural Remedies
Posted by admin on Oct 27, 2009
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) also known as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is defined as a syndrome that is usually characterized by a short attention span, inattentiveness, poor concentration, over-activity, impulsivity, or a combination of these things. Symptoms appear to begin in early childhood and can persist into adulthood.
While ADHD is often genetic, the root cause is not fully known or understood. Whatever the specific cause, it seems to appear early in life as the brain is developing. Studies have suggested that the brains of children diagnosed with ADHD are significantly different from those of other children. Neurotransmitters such as adrenalin, dopamine, and seratonin seem to be handled differently in the brains of ADHD children.
Many children are misdiagnosed with ADHD every year. This is why every child suspected of having ADD or ADHD should be carefully evaluated to determine exactly what is contributing to the suspected behaviors. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association divides the symptoms of ADD and ADHD into three categories: Inattentiveness, Hyperactivity, and Impulsivity. Some of the symptoms in each category include:
Symptoms of Inattentiveness:
* Failure to give close attention to details
* Careless mistakes in schoolwork
* Difficulty sustaining attention
* Appears not to be listening when spoken to directly
* Difficulty organizing tasks
* Easily distracted and often forgetful
Symptoms of Hyperactivity:
* Fidgets with feet and hands or squirms in seat
* Runs around or climbs on things inappropriately
* Difficulty playing quietly
* Excessive talking
Symptoms of Impulsivity:
* Interrupts others
* Blurts out answers before questions are completed
ADHD is a frustrating problem for parents as well as the sufferer, and unfortunately many parents are very quick to jump on the pharmaceutical bandwagon in an attempt to “cure” their child. Positive effects of these drugs include a calming of the central nervous system, while the negatives include possible addiction. And some ADHD drugs have been linked to sudden death in children with heart problems. This is why it is so important to get all the facts before implementing any type of treatment for ADD or ADHD.

Posted by admin on Oct 27, 2009
Constipation is one of the most widespread gastrointestinal complaints in the United States, ensuing in about 2 million doctor visits per annum. However, most people treat themselves without looking for medical help, as is obvious from the millions of dollars people waste on laxatives each year. When compared to other diseases constipation is effortlessly curable by holding appropriate dietary model. The hard and dry stools of constipation happen when the colon absorbs too much water or if the colon’s muscle contractions are slow or sluggish, causing the stool to move through the colon too gradually.
Constipation is a ordinary disorder of the digestive region. In this situation, the bowels do not move frequently, or are not entirely emptied when they move. This state is the chief source of a lot of diseases as it produces toxins, which find their way into the bloodstream and are passed to all parts of the body
Constipation Symptoms
Uncommonness, irregularity in removal of hard faecal matter
The most ordinary symptoms of constipation are infrequency, irregularity or obscurity in elimination of the hard faecal matter.
Coated tongue, Foul breath, headache, depression etc
The other signs include a coated tongue, foul breath, loss of appetite, headache, giddiness, dark circles under the eyes, depression, nausea, pimples on the face, ulcer in the mouth, constant fullness in the abdomen, diarrhea alternating with constipation, varicose veins, pain in the lumbar region, acidity, heart burn, and insomnia
Causes of Constipation
Faulty diet and method of living

Inadequate intake of water, strong tea and coffee etc
Intake of refined and rich foods lacking in vitamins and minerals, insufficient intake of water, consumption of meat in large quantities, excessive use of strong tea and coffee, inadequate chewing, overeating and wrong combination of foods, irregular habits of eating and drinking may all give to poor bowel function.
Irregular habit of defecation, lack of physical movement
Other factors include faulty and irregular habit of defecation, frequent use of purgatives, weakness of abdominal muscles due to sedentary habits, lack of physical activity, and emotional anxiety and strain.
Home Remedies for Constipation
1. Constipation treatment via Bael Fruit
Normally all fruits, except banana and jackfruit, are useful in the treatment of constipation. Certain fruits are, however, more useful. Bael fruit is regarded as the finest of all laxatives. It cleans and tones up the bowels. Its normal use for two or three months throws out even the old accumulated faecal matter. It must be rather taken in its original form and before dinner. About sixty grams of the fruit are enough for an adult.
2. Constipation treatment with Pear
Pears are useful in the treatment of constipation. Patients suffering from chronic constipation must accept an exclusive diet of this fruit or it’s juice for a few days, but in normal cases, a medium-sized pear taken after dinner or with breakfast will have the desired effect.
3. Constipation treatment with Guava
Guava is another helpful remedy for constipation. When eaten with seeds, it provides roughage to the diet and helps in the standard evacuation of the bowels. One or two guavas should be taken daily.
4. Constipation treatment with Grapes
Grapes have proved very helpful in overcoming constipation. The combination of the properties of the cellulose, sugar, and organic acid in grapes build them a laxative food. Their field of action is not inadequate to clearing the bowels only. They also tone up the stomach and intestines and reduce the most chronic constipation. One must take at least 350 gm of this fruit daily to achieve the desired results. When fresh grapes are not obtainable, raisins, soaked in water, can be used. Raisins must be soaked for twenty-four to forty-eight hours. This will make them swell up to the original size of the grapes. They must be eaten early in the morning, along with the water in which they have been soaked.
5. Constipation treatment with Orange
Orange is also beneficial in the constipation treatment. Taking one or two oranges at bedtime and again on increasing in the morning is an excellent way of stimulating the bowels. The all-purpose stimulating influence of orange juice stimulates peristaltic activity and helps prevent the accumulation of food residue in the colon.
6. Constipation treatment using Papaya and Figs
Other fruits specific for constipation are papaya and figs. Partly a medium-sized papaya should be eaten at breakfast for it to act as a laxative. Four or five dry figs must be soaked overnight in a little water and eaten in the morning.
7. Constipation treatment with Spinach
Among the vegetables, spinach has been measured to be the most vital food for the entire digestive tract from time immemorial. Raw spinach holds the finest organic material for the cleansing, reconstruction, and regeneration of the intestinal tract. Raw spinach juice-100 ml, mixed with an identical quantity of water and taken twice daily, will cure the most aggravated cases of constipation in a few days.
8. Constipation treatment by means of Other Remedies
Half a lime, squeezed is a glass of hot water, with half a teaspoon of salt is also an effective medicine for constipation. Drinking water, which has been kept overnight in a copper vessel, first thing in the morning, brings superior results. Linseed (alse) is extremely useful in complicated cases of constipation. A teaspoon of linseed swallowed with water before each meal offers both roughage and lubrication

Herbal Remedies for Arthritis: A Basic Understanding
Posted by admin on Oct 25, 2009
Herbal remedies for arthritis may be worth considering. Natural health experts expound on the effectiveness in relieving pain and reducing inflammation at the joints and surrounding muscles with the use of herbs. Here are some herbal remedies for arthritis that they say are effective.
What Are Some Of the Herbs for Arthritis
Some of the important herbal remedies for arthritis include Chinese Thunder God Vine, willow bark extract, feverfew, cat’s claw and stinging nettle.
Reports indicate that ginger and willow bark extract can relieve arthritis pains very effectively. Their only drawback is that they contain chemicals that are similar to conventional NSAIDs (Nonsteroidal anti-Inflammatory compounds). The NSAIDs as drugs have quite a few side effects. For example, they may cause inflammation of the stomach lining and intestines. Moreover, if the amount ingested is substantial, they can also interfere with blood clotting or cause fluid retention.
Because of these reasons, they are considered dangerous for people with high blood pressure or with heart diseases. In comparison to ginger and willow bark extract, Chinese Thunder God Vine appears to be better for arthritis as they can also relieve pain and joint inflammation pretty effectively. However, it is strongly recommended that they be not used over a long period, as prolonged usage may lead to osteoporosis, which may result in weak bones.
Herbal Supplements for Arthritis
Herbal remedies for arthritis can also be consumed as a supplement. If the above mentioned herbs are available in supplements from your local health store, do ensure that you stick to recommended dosage instructions.
Consuming Herbal Remedies in Other Forms
Other than supplements, you can always consume herbal remedies in the form of cleansing teas or soups. For teas, visit a herbal store to get help in choosing the herbs and mixing a concoction for you. You should always choose the best quality herbs as herbs can be of different grades.
Traditional Chinese Medicine also recommends boiling herbal remedies for arthritis to serve as a tonic soup or drink. You will need to consult a TCM practitioner as he will need to determine the type of arthritis that you are having before he can give you a herbal prescription. There are different forms of arthritis due to differing symptoms and complications. Because of this, different treatments are advised for different individuals.
Herbal remedies for arthritis are worth a try especially if you wish to find other means of reducing your pain and inflammation, other than through drug reflief. However, as with all of these treatments, you should go ahead with them only if your doctor thinks it is safe for you to do so. As it has been shown, herbal remedies for arthritis does not necessarily mean no side effects. You should always ensure that you comply with the recommended guidelines by your doctor.

has anyone ever tried natural remedies for heart worms in dogs?
Posted by admin on Oct 24, 2009
Once a dog has heartworms, there are NO natural remedies.
They have to be treated with powerful drugs, and the treatment alone can kill the dog.
Prevention is the best medicine.
Again, you must use the drugs prescribed by vets.
Basically, no.
Nothing holistic will protect or treat heartworms.
P.S. This is a horrifying disease for dogs to have and die from. They suffocate slowly over weeks and months. It’s painful. Don’t let any dog suffer this torture.
Heal your Migraine With Natural Remedies
Posted by admin on Oct 23, 2009
If you are uneasy about taking pain medications, you may be interested in alternative treatments for migraine, or vascular, headaches. Alternative methods are natural ways to cure the pain and suffering of migraines. Alternative treatments are becoming more and more popular with doctors, especially when they are combined with prescription medications.
There are several factors that lead to the increasing popularity of natural migraine remedies. If you have a tendency to react adversely to prescription or over the counter medications, you may find that you can’t take any of the available migraine medications. Of course, you may just prefer not to use prescription medications because you are concerned about adversely affecting your body after extended use. The side effects of migraine drugs also make them a problem for many people. The last reason many people are turning to natural migraine remedies is the cost of prescription drugs. Without good insurance, these drugs can just be too pricey for most people.
One of the easiest, and most effective, natural migraine remedies is to turn out the lights. Darkness can help you recover more quickly from a painful attack. While laying down in a dark area should help somewhat, you can make this remedy more effective by following a few simple tips.
* Keep it quiet. Turn off televisions, radios and other noisemakers.
* Make sure you are warm and cozy.
* Lay down and relax as much as possible.
* Don’t close your eyes. Instead, cover them with a cloth, such as a scarf or a handkerchief. Closing your eyes actually uses additional muscles and can worsen your pain.
Relaxed breathing is another natural remedy for migraines. The reason this method is so effective is that knowing how badly your head is going to hurt when the migraine reaches full strength can cause you to have an anxiety attack. This makes your heart rate go up, which makes your blood move through your system more quickly, which increases your blood pressure. The increase in blood pressure puts more pressure on the areas being affected by your migraine attack, worsening the symptoms. It is essential for you to relax your breathing and slow your heart rate. To relax your breathing, you should:
1. Breathe in slowly and deeply. Then exhale just as slowly.
2. Take a second slow, deep breath. Take the time to feel the air going into your lungs and filling your body. Once you’ve inhaled as deeply as you can without growing uncomfortable, exhale slowly. Think about the way the air feels as it leaves your body. Be sure to breath out completely before you inhale again.
3. Repeat the entire process four to five more times, focusing on staying relaxed and slow.
4. You should feel far more relaxed and your breathing should be calmer. Your heart should be beating at a normal rate. Ideally, you should be so relaxed that you feel sleepy. Don’t fight the feeling. Go ahead and fall asleep.
Lavender oil is the final natural remedy for migraine sufferers. This essential oil is known for its many uses, including its ability to soothe migraine headaches. Lavender oil is inexpensive and readily available. You will want to avoid fragrances or scented oils, as they are not effective. Essential oils are much more powerful. When you begin to feel migraine symptoms, you will need to place a drop of lavender oil on your temples or behind your ears. You may want to place two to three additional drops of oil on your pillow. This treatment is especially effective when combined with the first two natural migraine remedies. The scent of lavender is so relaxing that many people feel their migraine lessening almost right away.
Ideally, when you treat your migraine with these natural remedies, you will fall into a healing sleep and awaken feeling rested and ready to face the day.
