If sodium benzoate and Vitamin C can form a carcinogen when they come together in a cosmetic product?
Posted by admin on Nov 16, 2009
sodium benzoate breaks down to become benzene when it encounters vitamin c. Sodas and soft drinks have been targeted as potentially carcinogenic as a result. These ingredients often co-exist in cosmetics – so could the same thing happen?
Two of the most dangerous elements in the world are sodium and chlorine. Each, on their own are very dangerous. When mixed with a variety of substances, they both can react very violently. When these two horrible elements are brought together in balance, they form sodium chloride, also known as table salt.
Unstable ingredients are often mixed to make stable materials.
can vitamins and minerals help the heart problems broughtwith marfans syndrome?
Posted by admin on Nov 16, 2009
yesterday I had found out that have marfans syndrome and i had read that certain vitamins and minerals can bring about the constructions of connective tissues, which are not very well with people with marfan syndrome. So i was wondering could these vitamins and minerals help with the aorta and other hearth related problems because i am really scared at the moment because the heartscan showed that i have these problems. i would be gratefull if someone who knows about this condition answered and i would be seriously thankfull if you could answer my question. thanks alot ![]()
Hi Josh,,,,
Nope there really are no cures for connective tissue disorders such as MArfans. It is scary at first but I am sure you will adjust and get back to leading a normal life. Have a look online and find a Marfan forum or website both of which are available and join up and learn more about your condition.
I have a connective tissue disorder too and recently had open heart surgery to replace part of my aorta and heart valve…it was very scary at first but I soon go over that fear and was confident it would be OK. I now live a very normal life.
There are drugs …a blood pressure one Losartan that has been shown to be beneficial to people like us…it may be something you will come across in your research of Marfans.
Most of all stop worrying…your condition has been found and can now be monitored to avoid a tragedy.

Water fasting, any heart burn remedies?
Posted by admin on Nov 16, 2009
*Please don’t post negative comments about fasting, im aware of what i’m doing, thanks for caring though!*
This is my third day water fasting, so far so good, very mild hunger pains if any, but I have one problem, heartburn!
Drinking a tall glass of water calms it down a little bit, but does anybody have a remedy for heartburn while water fasting?
Thanks in advance, any advice will be much appreciated.
Please be aware that heart burn is not related to the heart. It is related to acid reflux from your stomach to your esophageus. In medically term this is GERD.
Conservative treatment for GERD is to loose weight, avoid tea, sleep with a few pillows, stop smoking and drinking.
Medical treatment will include some anti acid H2 blocker that inhibit acid production. Famotidine, Ranitidine will be good options. If that does not help try some proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole. They works better, but they are much more expensive.
What is the best way to advertise yoga retreats in Mexico?
Posted by admin on Nov 16, 2009
I am a yoga teacher living in a small coastal village south of Puerta Vallarata reached by boat. I have put together a unique kind of yoga retreat that includes being invited to the heart of this village life as a way to do yoga and have a real Mexico cultural experience at the same time. The retreat includes yoga, experiencing the local beauty of nature, a birding excursion, interacting with village children and local characters that make this spot unique. One of those is the village healer who uses local plants and herbs for healing treatments. Also exposure to the Huciol Indians through their spirit vision inspired art.
Experienceing true Mexican cuisine with a local family cooking for the group. This retreat can be offered with a minimum of 8 people at a very low rate including 7 nights in the village, 1 night in P.V., yoga, birding, boat ride to and from village, almost all meals, experiences with the village, swmimming, hiking, sunning for $985.
(not including flight).
Must be in Yalapa …

Been asking that question for a year, it’ll take a while but time heals, (and God can help), just please don’t dwell or blame yourself because it will lead you down a path you really don’t wanna take.
Fight Cancer With Vitamins And Over The Counter Products

No word in the English language invokes such fear and dread as the word Cancer. When the control system that governs a cell’s reproduction is damaged Cancer may be the result. It is the job of the immune system to detect and then kill them.
A mutation of the cell is the first step in the development of a tumor cell and is usually a small change in the DNA, which leads to a genetic instability of the cell. During Mitosis (cell division) the cell mutation is passed on to the daughter cells. Cancer cells continue to multiply in an unregulated manner. A single cancer cell is invisible to the naked eye but can continue to divide until a tumor is formed. Cancer is, ultimately, a disease of genes.
Tumors develop when uncontrolled cell division occurs and then spreads by direct growth into adjacent tissue through invasion, or by implantation into distant sites by metastasis (where cancer cells are transported through the bloodstream or lymphatic system).
Among the distinguishing traits of tumors is a large number of dividing cells, variation in nuclear size and shape, variation in cell size and shape, loss of specialized cell features, loss of normal tissue organization, and a poorly defined tumor boundary.
Although advanced cancer may cause pain, it is often not the first symptom. A cancer may be suspected for a variety of reasons, but the definitive diagnosis of most malignancies must be confirmed by histological examination of the cancerous cells by a pathologist.
Because “cancer” refers to a class of diseases, it is unlikely that there will ever be a single “cure for cancer” any more than there will be a single treatment for all infectious diseases.
Benign tumors do not spread to other parts of the body or invade other tissues, and they are rarely a threat to life unless they affect some other vital structures of the human body.
Cancer can be treated by surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, monoclonal antibody therapy or other methods. Although radiation damages both cancer cells and normal cells, most normal cells can recover from the effects of radiation and function properly. Studies have shown that high body temperatures can affect and often kill cancer cells. Perhaps taking aspirin to reduces the body temperatures at the first sign if an illness is not the wises course of action. More studies in this area are needed.
Based on epidemiological evidence, it is now thought that avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, being physically active, and maintaining recommended body weight may all contribute to reductions in risk of certain cancers. Most cancers are thought to be linked to known lifestyle factors.
We can greatly improve the effectiveness of our immune system to detect and then destroy these cancerous cells by taking the right nutrients. The correct nutrients can both reduce our chances of getting cancer and improve our chances of recovery if we have already contracted it.
Vitamin A – Vitamin C – Vitamin E
Selenium – Soy Isoflavones – Calcium
Flaxseed Oil – Green Tea Extract – M.S.M
Vitamin A is an important immune system stimulant. DR. Nauss reported a reduced T-cell immune response in patients with a Vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A deficiency may increase the risk of cancers of the lung, larynx, bladder, esophagus, stomach, colon, rectum and prostate. Vitamin A is stored in the liver and fat cells of the human body and can reach toxic levels. DO NOT take more than the recommended dosage of Vitamin A.
Vitamin C reduces the risk of cervical dysphasia, a precancerous condition. It is essential for defending the body against pollution and infection and enhances the immune system.
Vitamin E may have a role in reducing the risk of lung cancer, according to researchers at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. It supplies oxygen to the heart and other muscles of the body and aids in the functioning of the immune system.
Areas with low Selenium in the soil and water have more deaths from cancers of the esophagus, stomach and rectum.
Selenium is a powerful antioxidant and inhibitor of cancer initiation and development.
Studies also suggest that Soy Isoflavones can help protect against cancer as well as heart disease.
In 1985 Dr. Shekelle and his co- workers reported a strong link between ample calcium intake and low risk of developing colon cancer.
Green tea extract contains natural antioxidant compounds know as polyphenols useful in fighting tumors as well as helping prevent and treat rheumatoid arthritis.
M.S.M is a natural supplement that is getting a lot of attention due to its role in tissue healing at the cellular level. It is a natural organic sulfur that comes from rain fall and is found naturally in the human body.

Getting Older Does not Mean Getting Slower
Posted by admin on Nov 15, 2009
Many benefits are available to those who reach the golden years of their life: wisdom, a relaxed style of life, a lifetime of memories and in some states, free bus passes. Of course, these advantages are balanced by the fact that as part of the aging(http://www.mitamins.com/disease/Aging.html) process, parts of the body may stop functioning as they once used to. A sobering thought, but you can take solace in the knowledge that people are leading a fuller life than ever before. This has been achieved, in part, through the advances in our knowledge of nutrition and the aging process.
Nutrition is a Bigger Concern in the Elderly
Good nutrition is general knowledge today but it may be increasingly difficult for people to absorb all the nutrients they require as they get older. Supplementing certain vitamins in the form of an anti aging supplement becomes a necessity. Loss of appetite can also exacerbate this deficiency, and may be caused by lowered physical activity and the side effects of medication. The figures show a grim reality – nearly 50% of Americans aged 65 and over are on more than three prescription drugs. Also, over time, the gastro-intestinal tract, kidneys and liver are less efficient and can not process the nutrients that the body normally gains through eating.
Easy Steps to Prevent Early Aging
Most of the ailments that we associate with aging are all preventable to a certain degree without recourse to fantasy. A calculated course of nutritional supplementation can help people look younger, live longer, and most importantly, live better.
The anti aging supplement outlined below was created in conjunction with both medical and nutritional consultants. It is focused on controlling free radical damage with a combination of antioxidants and overall nutritional support. Some traditional and modern constituents have been included for their protective and enhancing properties.
Vitamin B Complex – very important constituent of this anti-aging supplement, it is vital for the brain and can help against Alzheimer’s. Important in energy use and creation.
Spirulina – natural source for vital nutrients, also good for progressive mental diseases.
Green Tea – a important player in an anti aging supplement, it is a potent antioxidant, detoxifier, and research is ongoing into its benefits against a variety of cancers
Flaxseed – required for healthy cell function and replication and a great source of omega 3 oils which help in heart disease(http://www.mitamins.com/disease/Heart-Disease.html) and may assist aging skin
Garlic – benefits the immune and cardiovascular system, regular prescription against hardening of the arteries.
Siberian Ginseng – helps the body adapt to mental and physical stress(http://www.mitamins.com/disease/Stress.html), supports the immune functions.
Ginkgo Biloba – antioxidant properties and is used for circulation and memory problems.
Cordyceps – shown to be effective against fatigue and premature aging. Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Ester C, and Vitamin E are powerful antioxidants and they work synergistically in this anti aging supplement to protect cell membrane from free radical damage.
CoQ10 – strong antioxidant and can also aid cardiovascular function, protecting against heart disease and heart attacks.
Reishi Mushroom Extract – boosts the immune function, can help the body absorb other nutrients.
Ashwagandha – Indian ginseng, a potent tonic for the body.
Asian Ginseng – anti-aging traditional medicine, considered to have anti-cancer(http://www.mitamins.com/disease/Cancer.html) effects.
Ginger – digestive aid and it is also beneficial for blood clots and anti-inflammation.
Milk Thistle Extract – promotes liver health.
The ingredients in this anti aging supplement, alongside a fitness regimen and moderation in alcohol and quitting smoking can help you achieve huge benefits and contribute to healthy aging. It is worth noting that you should check with your physician first before undergoing any fitness, nutrition or lifestyle change. You should also check to find out if any of the ingredients interact with your prescription drugs so tell your doctor and pharmacist what you are taking. Unfortunately, there is not a high level of understanding in the medical or pharmaceutical world into herbs and nutraceuticals although some research has been conducted into vitamins and the popular herbs.
A dietician may have better knowledge than your doctor but there are also a number of sources of information concerning prescription drug-dietary supplement interactions on the internet and a free drugs/vitamins interaction checker is available at Mitamins(http://www.mitamins.com).
The Merck Manual is a comprehensive resource of up to date medical information and has some good primers on interactions as well as in depth analysis.
The National Institute of Health’s Office of Dietary Supplements has a number of good fact sheets on different supplements.
