What do you think of the name Adrienne Ryleigh Hawthorne?

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009

I don’t have my heart set on it, but let me know what you think.
Hawthorne is the last name.

I love the name!

I also love:
Adrienne Jewel Hawthorne
Ryleigh Rose Hawthorne

EDIT:
I just read other comments and I do not understand why such rude answers…."trashy, ugly"? That is just plain disrespectful you can give an opinion without being so damn harsh, and possibly offensive! I happen to think that Ryleigh is a feminine spelling of Riley (not TRASHY)! Sorry I get so tired of the blantantly rude people on this site!

is it good to give dogs garlic pills ???

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009

i heard that if you give your dog garlic pills every other day that it keeps fleas away ,makes their coat shiney, and makes their heart stronger. has anyone ever tried this?

I give my dobie the Brewers Yeast/Garlic tablets daily. She is constantly outside and getting into water or mud, so she gets plenty of baths. The flea treatments you can get at the vet just weren’t working b/c she got wet all the time. I started using the garlic almost 2 years ago and haven’t seen a flea on her since, and we go camping and hiking throughout the year. She’s never bothered by mosquitoes, fleas, or ticks.

How much Vitamin C is needed to Induce my period?

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009

Ok so, I’ve heard that Vitamin C can induce ones period. I would like to induce it because I’m going on Vaca during the time I’m suppost to have it. So I was told Vitamin C and Parsley tea. So how much Vitamin C do I have to take to help Induce(per day). Aswell I’m wondering how much Parsley tea am I suppost to drink too. Merci!

Parsley tea just keep drinking a few times a day until your period turns up – remember to use fresh herb and don’t boil. Vitamin C will help, but only if you get a product without bioflavinoids that are added to vitamin C to protect against miscarriage, you want a vitamin C product with the ingredient ascorbic acid as this is what you need to be taking. Dosage is 6-12 grams per day, divide this equally to take throughout the day with plenty of water. Don’t take these for more than 10 days, prolonged use can have serious health implications – any side-effects such as diarrhea, headaches, upset stomach, abdominal cramps, hot flashes, and/or rashes stop use straight away.

See http://www.sisterzeus.com – it’s a horrible site to navigate through, but a lot of useful information.

You can only induce if you have at least two weeks of uterus lining build-up, don’t overdose and don’t use parsley if you have any liver problems. If it doesn’t work then it’s no big deal, just use menstrual cups so you don’t have to think about your periods while you’re off enjoying yourself, and there’s plenty to prevent menstrual problems like cramps or PMS if you suffer from them.

Edit: These aren’t urban myth, they are commonly used not only to induce menstruation but also within emergency contraception and herbal abortion. Parsley well known as a mild emmenagogue meaning it relaxes your cervix, and vitamin C starves the uterus of progesterone. You can also combine different progesterone blocking, uterine contracting and oestrogenic herbs to induce your period – but Parsley and vitamin C are the safest and most commonly used methods.

Is there a limit on how many times your heart will beat in your lifetime?

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009

If there is, people who exercise are reducing their life. When the craze for exercise began in the 80’s, these people are only in their 40’s now, so there is no evident that people who exercise will live longer, and scientists have been wrong before. The heart is only a muscle. You might be making it stronger by exercise but whose to say you will live any longer.
People who are in their 80’s and older now, had poor diets, polution, couldn’t afford health care, war, barely had enough to eat never mind worrying about their fat intake, vitamins, folic acid, sugar, etc. yet they have survived to old age without all these low calorie, high fibre diets these doctors say we need to function properly.
It just makes me question these so called experts. In the future are we going to be told they got it all wrong and nothing you do will make you live any longer than you are supposed to. Even if that means you die at 20 or 100. When your times up, it’s up.
My mum is 83 years old this year. She never exercised any more than anyone else when she was young. Her basic diet for years was bread and dripping, broken dog biscuits, mouldy fruit, the tail off a fish that her father would have for his dinner, and if she was lucky a piece of stale bread with jam.
Would we survive on a diet like that? Who knows, but she did and so did millions of others who are still around today.
I really do believe that diet and exercise have nothing to do with your length of time on this earth. That is already decided before we are born and nothing will change that.

Id say your right my dad is 88 mums 84 both worked hard lived with rationing struggled to feed us but we all are still on the go rock on dudes

Is it safe and beneficial for women 30 yrs and younger to take fish oil supplements to prevent heart disease?

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009

Which is better? flaxseed or fish oil supplements?

Absolutely, it’s good to get omega-3 from fish oil/flax seed. I personally prefer flaxseed supplements because you don’t get the fishy aftertaste.

Vitamins – An Overview

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009

Vitamins are diverse in nature and are organic substances contained in the food and drink we consume. They are essential for the preservation of life and promotion of growth. A shortage of an important vitamin in our diet can lead to poor health and disease. Vitamins perform a different function to that of carbohydrates, fats and proteins but collectively they are all important ingredients of our diet.

Many diseases are prevented by our body absorbing vitamins in the correct quantities. They help keep our essential organs such as heart, lungs and liver healthy. Vitamins help maintain strong and healthy bones, teeth, muscle and all the parts that make up the physical structure of our bodies, including skin, blood vessels and arteries. Even the function of our brain is reliant on the right levels of vitamins being maintained in our body. Vitamins also help with the prevention of cancer.

If we eat a healthy balanced diet then the body will absorb most if not all of the essential vitamins it needs. Unfortunately, with modern lifestyles and eating habits, we do not always get the right vitamins in the correct quantities. It then becomes necessary to look at vitamin supplements to make up the shortfall in our bodies requirements.

This article is only intended to give an overview of vitamins and their importance. We should all be aware of the essential vitamins and the amount of each we should consume in our normal diet or as supplements where our normal diet is deficient. Too much of any particular vitamin is not usually a problem since the body will automatically reject the excess in our urine, particularly those vitamins which are water soluble. Some vitamins are fat soluble and the body does not necessarily deal with excess amounts in the same way, so we need to monitor those more carefully. However, it is the deficiency of vitamins which is of main concern because our body cannot absorb what is

not there.

We should make ourselves aware of the important vitamins, the minimum and in some cases the maximum daily intake and the signs to look for in our health which would indicate a vitamin deficiency. If we are under medication from a doctor then that can affect the balance of vitamins required in which case we should seek the advice of our doctor. Otherwise it is up to us to educate ourselves and monitor our own health.

Dietary Health Vitamin Supplement: Do you Need One?

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009

Do you need a dietary health vitamin supplement? Many of us wonder if we are eating a balanced enough diet to get all of our vitamins and minerals on a daily basis. The truth is… even the most balanced diet can be lacking in some very important vitamins. Taking a daily multi-vitamin can be the perfect nutritional supplement for anyone.

Most people believe that eating a balanced diet is the only thing that is important to maintaining good health. Actually, eating a balanced diet and combining that with regular exercise, proper hydration, and the right dosage of multivitamins will be a more accurate way of obtaining optimal health.

Exercise

It is essential to keep the body moving. Although supplements can be useful for nutritional purposes, only moving your body can burn the calories. Exercising helps to rid your body of the waste products that build up in your muscle and other organ tissues. To aid in proper health, it is recommended that you get your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes three times per week.

Water

Drinking enough fluids is another essential part of keeping your body at its optimal health. You can take all the herbal remedies and multivitamin supplement pills you want…but if you are not properly hydrated, they will be extremely ineffective. Most physicians recommend that you drink at least 64 ounces of water on a daily basis. More if you are consuming alcohol or caffeinated beverages.

Diet

Eating a well balanced diet is also very important to maintaining proper health. A diet high in sugars or fats will quickly deplete your body of energy. Eating at least 9 fruits and vegetables a day will keep your tummy full of healthy food and leave little room for sweets and other not so healthy food items.

Vitamins

Almost everyone can benefit from taking at least a multi-mineral type of vitamin on a daily basis. Even individuals who monitor their diet closely, exercise regularly, and drink plenty of water can be deficient in one or more vitamins. Taking a multi-vitamin will help to ensure that a wide range of minerals is entering your body at least once per day.

Even healthy eaters tend to have their favorite foods that they eat on a daily basis. Even if these foods are extremely healthy, they can be lacking in certain vitamins. Someone who eats five oranges a day will obviously be getting plenty of vitamin C but may be deficient in different vitamins like: Vitamin D or E.

Although you may not need a multivitamin to feel healthy, you may find that taking it will help boost your energy levels far beyond your current levels. It is important for people of all nutrition levels to consider a multivitamin to help them reach their optimal health. To help increase the effectiveness of the multivitamins, people can also incorporate consistent exercise, a well balanced diet, and drinking at least 64 ounces of water every day.
